16 JanSarah and Sloane’s Wedding

invite
Sarah and Sloane’s wedding invitation design is right up at the top of my list of favorites. And, while the design itself is fabulous, there are several more reasons why this projects rocks. I was given complete creative freedom, in coordination with Rachel Murphy, wedding planner extraordinaire. Together, we decided that a die-cut pocket of sorts would make this invite pretty rad. And, we were right! Special touches like that are always fun.

Another reason why I love this project is because the couple is so great. They chose a super-cool venue, The American Sign Museum, in Cincinnati. If you haven’t checked it out yet, it’s totally worth a visit! The main directive from them right off the bat was to have fun and when that’s the priority, you just can’t go wrong!

And finally, this is my first time designing an invitation for a same-sex couple. And to avoid going off on a tangent about that, I will simply say that Cormier Creative is all for people being happy, people being themselves, people being in love, people who are awesome, people who are real and people living their dream.

Thank you to Sarah Babcock Wedding Photography Studio for the lovely images!

thankyou

22 OctSurprise Party Invitation

I will always believe that the party starts when the invitation is sent. It’s the invitation that sets the tone for the entire event. Yeah yeah, you’ve heard that before. But, it’s SO TRUE. In this case, the invitation was the driving force behind all of the party details. I worked with my client, Sue, to come up with a really fun concept—one that was really personal. We played up Joe’s obsession with cannons and his silliness. The result? Right here:

Sue heard nothing but rave reviews about this invitation before the party and it was definitely hard to keep it a secret! The fun buzz that was created was brought to the party. (I know because I got to attend!) Not only did this invite serve the purpose of providing party details, but it’s such a keepsake for Joe! Ka-boom!

21 AugWhere can I buy cool paper?

Finding awesome paper is not easy. I know this from experience. When I ventured out to design my first wedding invitation requiring cool paper (my own) I realized it wasn’t easy to find neat paper in small-ish quantities. Yes, craft stores have paper, but you’ll pay an arm and a leg for 12 x 12 sheets, typically meant for the scrap-booking crowd. So what’s the solution? The average Joe doesn’t have mill swatch books laying around the house and your average printer may not have the time and patience to sit down with your bridesmaid dress swatches (you know who you are, girls). Well, I’ve got a solution for you! If all you need is neat-o paper and pockets… look no further than the Envelopments website. While I’m not at all advocating DIY design projects, there are times when you just need some sweet paper. Of course, most of the time, you need to hire a sweet designer, like me. But in the meantime…

When you click here you will be taken to the Cormier Creative Envelopments site where you can shop till you drop. Make sure you give Cormier Creative credit at the checkout. Show a girl some love! Have fun shopping all of the colors, patterns, shapes and sizes. It’s easy to get carried away! (I’m always here to help!)
